Indagare Art Club:
Masterpieces of French Art from the Medieval Era to the Modern Age

From its glorious architecture to its influential movements, art in France has continued to delight, instruct and challenge audiences for centuries. Host Page Knox examines the wide range of artistic moments and movements in France, from the 11th-century School at Chartres to the 20th-century School of Paris. Through its exploration, this 11-part series will look at the work of important artists and their distinctive styles, beginning with the Gothic Era and the Renaissance, turning to the period of Louis XIV,V and XVI, followed by the French Revolution and the Romantic movement and concluding with an examination of Impressionism and Modernism. You’ll also get a glimpse into the lives of some of the great patrons behind French art, including bishops and kings, princesses and emperors, as well as members of the rising bourgeoisie.
