Indagare History Club: Ancient History: Egypt, Greece and Rome

Three sessions each on Egypt, Greece and Rome will be hosted by Indagare’s premier guides to the three regions.

9 sessions, January to September 2021 
Third Wednesday of every month, except in January and June, 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET. Dates and times may vary.
Club Fee: $1,000 (originally $1,500)

EGYPT

  • Wednesday, January 27, 1:00 p.m. ET: Egypt’s Predynastic and Old Kingdom
    This session will offer an overview of the rise of Egypt’s legendary leaders—from the earliest pharaohs and the predynastic development of culture in the Nile River Valley to the age of the pyramids.

  • Wednesday, February 17, 1:00 p.m. ET: Egypt’s Middle and New Kingdoms
    Who were some of Egypt’s most famous gods and goddesses? This class will examine Egyptian myths, the afterlife and the tombs and traditions of the Middle & New Kingdoms.

  • Wednesday, March 17, 1:00 p.m. ET: Egypt’s Late Period & Greco-Roman Era
    Dive into the history behind the monuments and the art of temples, tombs and pyramids, especially those of the Late Period and the Greco-Roman era (including such temples as Dendera and Edfu).

GREECE

  • Wednesday, April 21, 1:00 p.m. ET: Greece’s Bronze Age
    Learn about the fascinating history of the great empires of the Minoans and the Mycenaean states, through their myths and legends—and how the ancient Greeks used the Cycladic Islands as “stepping stones” for building trade routes in the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean.

  • Wednesday, May 19, 1:00 p.m. ET:  Ancient Greece before the Golden Age of Pericles
    This class will cover the most important religious centers and practices of ancient Greece, along with the geopolitical influence of the Oracle of Delphi through the power of Apollo, the Olympic Games, as well as the influence of pre-Socratic philosophers and Homer.

  • Wednesday, June 9, 1:00 p.m. ET: Daily life in Ancient Greece
    Explore daily life—arts, culture, commerce—in Athens, with a focus on 5th century B.C., exploring the roots of democracy and learning about life in the ancient Agora.

ROME

  • Wednesday, July 21, 1:00 p.m. ET: Romulus and the City’s Origins
    This class will look at the foundation of Rome, through some of its legendary figures and archaeological findings.

  • Wednesday, August 18, 1:00 p.m. ET: From a Republic to an Empire—Caesar to Augustus
    This class will narrate the major political upheavals and controversial alliances forged by some of history’s most iconic leaders, during the turn of the century that witnessed the birth of christianity.

  • Wednesday, September 15, 1:00 p.m. ET: The Good of Cruel Caracalla
    The final session in the series will chronicle the height of the Roman Empire and its political, financial and cultural expansion across Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as its influence on human rights, which is still felt in the European Community today.

Note: Lectures will be recorded and can be made available, if you are unable to attend a session. Attendance at every session, however, is recommended for an optimal learning experience, as there will be Q&A and discussion in all Indagare Clubs.

Deposit, Payment and Cancellation Policies: The payment for an Indagare Club booking is due in full at the time of booking. Should you wish to cancel, you have 7 days after confirmation to do so. The payment is nonrefundable after this time. Tier 1 Members receive a $200 credit towards Club fees. Tier 1 and TIer 2 Members receive a pass to invite one nonmember to sign up (at full cost). Should you not be able to participate in a Club session, we ask that you alert the Indagare team by emailing global.classroom@indagare.com at least 24 hours prior to Club start time. You also have the option to invite a guest to participate in your place should you need to miss a session, however, if you choose to do so, we ask that in your email to Global Classroom that you share your guest's name and email so that we may then send them the Zoom link in advance of the session.  

Changes to Programs or Program Delivery: Programs are subject to change or cancellation without notice, due to, for example, circumstances outside of Indagare Travel’s control. Should Indagare need to cancel a Club session due to unforeseen circumstances, Indagare will reschedule the session.

Not included in program rates: Costs of any additional tools or ingredients required for the Program. 

Intellectual Property: You agree that all information presented in each Program, including the Program title, is the intellectual property of Indagare Travel and/or its third party partners. All information presented is intended for one-time use by you unless otherwise agreed and is not to be copied or distributed under any circumstances by you or any of your guests attending or participating in a Program. You agree that you will comply with these restrictions.

Permission to Use Recorded Program: Programs may be recorded by Indagare Travel and/or its third party partners for a variety of purposes, including promotional and other commercial activities, as well as for training purposes. If you elect to include either a live or a still image of yourself or your name during the Program, and if you choose to engage in the Program by asking questions or providing commentary, you understand and agree that your image, identity and/or the sound of your voice as recorded or audio or video will become part of the Program and therefore may be used by Indagare Travel and/or its third party partners for the above-described purposes without any payment or other consideration.
