Indagare Art Club: Exploring Ancient Egypt with Page Knox
Step back in time with Page Knox for an exciting virtual series featuring two six-session parts exploring The Met’s world-renowned Egyptian collection, one of the finest and most comprehensive in the world, with over 24,000 artifacts. From the Predynastic and the Old Kingdom eras to the Ptolemies and Roman occupation, you’ll examine the art that illuminates ancient Egypt and meet iconic figures along the way including the visionary pharaoh Hatshepsut, the rebel Akhenaten, the master builder Ramses II, as well as the legendary Cleopatra.
The discovery doesn’t end in the ancient world–Page will also trace the rise of Egyptology, the phenomenon of “Egyptomania,” and the lasting influence of Egypt’s art and culture over the past two centuries into the modern age. Whether you’re preparing for January’s Indagare Journey to Egypt with Page, or simply want to immerse yourself in the country’s fascinating history from home, this club offers an in-depth exploration you won’t want to miss!
