The Essence of Place
How do travel and the places we visit inspire us and influence the way we see the world? How do the best hotels allow us to experience what designer, potter and author Jonathan Adler calls “an alternate universe of fantasy” or try on another extraordinary life? Melissa Biggs Bradley and Jonathan answer these questions and more as they discuss how a sense of place—the essence of a destination—is so often what stays with us long after we return home. Connecting with artisans and craftspeople through travel helped to spark Jonathan’s bold design ethos and to envision the playful geometric patterns, vibrant colors and distinctive shapes that showcase his modern American style on just about every surface imaginable, from furniture and pillows to tiles, vases and rugs. They’ll also talk about the value of authenticity—whether in design or travel—and why it always matters.

Travel, Style & Luxury Now

As leaders of successful luxury brands and businesses, our expert panelists will share their thoughts on how they’re defining (and redefining) luxury now, the brands and content they trust (and why); plus, they’ll touch on everything from AI and the importance of creating connection in a disconnected world to impact and sustainability, as they offer opinions, insights and examples on what’s working—and what’s not. And they’ll answer the questions on everyone’s mind–what are they loving right now and where are they headed next?
